DECA

What is DECA?

DECA was founded in 1946.  DECA has been represented as a student organization at Coon Rapids High School since 1965.  DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.  We are a a co-curricular student organization that serves 9th through 12th grade students at Coon Rapids High School.   DECA’s activities assist in the development of academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders.

Who can join DECA?

Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors can ALL join Coon Rapids DECA.  Since DECA is a co-curricular organization, the only other requirement is that a student must be enrolled in a marketing-related class sometime during the current school calendar year.  DECA members can begin their experience as early as the ninth grade by enrolling in a marketing, finance, hospitality, business management, or entrepreneurship course. They can retain their membership in DECA as long as they are actively pursuing courses in one of the content areas.  DECA enhances the co-curricular education of members through a comprehensive learning program that integrates into classroom instruction, applies learning, connects to business and promotes competition.
